Brennan Martin, Principal Network Engineer at ESTI Consulting Services (ESTI), has achieved the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in Routing and Switching. The CCIE designation is recognized throughout the IT industry. This certification is held only by networking professionals who are able to pair expert network engineering skills with mastery of the Cisco product set. Less than 1% of network professionals globally have achieved a CCIE certification.
The CCIE designation itself requires a successful result on a written exam as well as a notoriously challenging lab exam which is taken at Cisco headquarters in San Jose, California. While the CCIE certification technically has no prerequisites, Cisco recommends engineers have several years of experience and a number of previous certifications before attempting to attain the CCIE.
